Our Farm

Our Farm

Welcome to Shady Lane Stables

Shady Lane Stables is a family-run working farm located just west of Norwich, Ontario. We are a fully operational sheep farm, as well as home to horses, ponies, alpacas, goats, chickens, rabbits, and other small animals.

Our goal is to provide a welcoming place where children and families can experience farm life, connect with animals, enjoy the outdoors, and make lasting memories together.

Experience Life on the Farm

Life at Shady Lane Stables is always active. Our flock of sheep is an important part of the day-to-day operation of the farm, while our horses, ponies, and other animals are at the heart of many of the experiences we share with visitors.

We offer a variety of opportunities to experience the farm, including kids’ summer day camps, private guided farm visits, birthday parties, riding opportunities, and small private family events. Most visits are by appointment only, which allows us to provide a more personal experience while continuing to operate the farm.

Visitors can meet many of our animals and learn about how they are cared for. Children especially enjoy spending time with the horses and ponies, learning how to groom them, and discovering what goes into caring for animals every day.

As a working sheep farm, we also enjoy giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about our flock and how sheep are raised and cared for. Our alpacas, goats, chickens, rabbits, and other animals make every visit a little different and give children the chance to experience a variety of farm animals up close.

Kids’ Day Camps

Our kids’ day camps are designed to give children a fun, hands-on introduction to life on the farm. Depending on the day’s activities, campers may enjoy pony rides, grooming and interacting with animals, farm activities, crafts, outdoor play, and learning about farm safety and proper animal handling.

We want children to have fun while also learning to respect animals, understand how to behave safely around them, and gain a better appreciation for farming and the work involved in caring for animals.

Enjoy Your Time at the Farm

There’s more to a visit than just meeting the animals. Families can bring along a lunch and enjoy our picnic area and picnic tables, while children can have fun on the playground and bouncy castle when available. Parking is available on the property for our guests.

Whether you’re joining us for camp, celebrating a birthday, visiting the animals, or simply spending some time together as a family, we want your visit to feel relaxed, welcoming, and memorable.

Safety & Respect for the Farm

Safety is always a priority at Shady Lane Stables. Activities involving our animals are supervised, and we teach children and visitors how to interact with animals safely and respectfully.

Please remember that Shady Lane Stables is both a working farm and our family home. We kindly ask all visitors to respect our animals, property, posted signs, and any areas marked as off-limits. These guidelines help us keep our visitors, animals, and family safe while allowing everyone to enjoy their time on the farm.
